Mount Semeru (3,676m) – Summit Trek

Mount Semeru (3676m) is the highest mountain in Java and is an active volcano.

It is a challenging 2D1N trek. The route takes you past the picturesque Lake Kumbolo while hiking across the grasslands of Oro-Oro Ombo and camping at the base of Mount Semeru.

The next morning, we will trek to the summit and see the amazing views from the highest peak of Java. The summit push of Mount Semeru is especially tiring, as you ascend up the steep and narrow ash slopes but the reward at the end makes it worth the while.

Mount Semeru (3676m) is located in East Java, Indonesia, in the same national park as Mount Bromo. It is just an hour away from the city of Malang or 4-6 hours from Surabaya and 45 minutes from Mount Bromo. The base village is Ranupani Village.
